Nice ascot!

Last night we went to see Toy Story 3 and ohhhh myyyyy goshhhhh, words can’t describe how much I loved it. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me gasp and shout “OH NO HE DIDN’T!” at the screen…it was just an all-around great movie.

One of the most comforting things about going to see TS3 was that the theater was filled with people our age: the same kids who went to see the first Toy Story when it came out 15 years ago, and who saw the second one as preteens four years later. I was one of those kids who was convinced that my stuffed animals and Lion King figures and Beanie Babies all came alive when I left the room, and would run home and fling open the door in hopes of catching a few stragglers. Watching these films again makes me remember just how important those toys were to us, and how much time we spent playing with them. Now, even though we’re college kids like Andy, we still have that soft spot for Woody and the rest of the gang. Somehow I feel a comforting connection with the Toy Story movies, and whenever I hear the outstanding movie reviews, it just makes me feel a little proud. :)

Anyway, I highly recommend this movie to anyone, but especially to those of us who grew up with Toy Story…it’s as if our childhoods have come to a bittersweet end with the completion of the trilogy. Pixar is truly one of the best things to happen to our generation.
