cool instruments, pt. 1

So I TOTALLY did not catch this at the concert, but there is a theremin solo two minutes into "The Boxer"!! How did that get there? "Hey Artie, you know what would sound great in this instrumental break...?" Haha, I love how S&G always add subtle (and apparently not-so-subtle) changes when they play live:

Some other cool instruments I've been exposed to recently...

The kora is a stringed West African instrument that sounds like a mix between a classical guitar and a harp. We had a guest lecturer come into class and give us a mini concert, and I totally fell in love with it. It's so beautiful!

The dan bau is from Vietnam. It only has one string but you control the pitch with a wooden lever-type thing on the left side. The sound of it reminds me of a theremin, kinda creepy but really fascinating:
