Video of the day: The last five minutes of "The Vagabond," from 1916. This is still one of the Charlie's early short films, but whereas the previous comedies were full of pie-throwing, police chases, and pratfalls, this one is where the trademark Chaplin sentiment starts to come in. The first time I saw this, I totally "Awwww!"d out loud:

PS - the leading lady in this one (and about 30 other Chaplin films) was Edna Purviance, Charlie's real-life girlfriend at the time. They were so cute together, I wish they'd gotten married...plus, she was actually kind of close to his age, ahaha.
